Who we are, what we believe | ||||
| Who we are: The Independent Christian Church, Churches of Christ, (instrumental): We are a church of the "Restoration Movement", we are striving to resotre the faith and practices of the New Testament scriptures without man's methods, ideas or additions. We are NOT a denomination, nor do we have a central headquarters. Our sole purpose is to glorify and serve our Lord Jesus Christ. What we believe: We believe there is only one, true God, triune in nature, consisting of three distinct persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Godhead are not three distinct Gods, but one, known as the Trinity.. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second figure of the Godhead, God the Son. We believe he was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, was crucified as atonement for our sins, died, was laid in a tomb, and on the third day He physically rose from the dead, conquering death, sin, and providing a path for eternal life for all who will come to Him in faith. We believe Jesus lives, reigning in heaven now, but will return at a date God decides that no man knows.
| What we believe cont.: We believe the Holy Spriit indwells within the heart of every baptized believer (Christian). He acts as conscience, guide and assistant in prayer. He is the seal which identifies God's children. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Pet. 1:21, 2 Tim. 3:16) We believe the Holy Spirit inspired the authors of the Bible so that what they wrote was free of error, (inerant) and incapable of error (infallible). We believe this about salvation: Hear: You must hear the Word preached. "For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believed."1 Cor. 1:21. NKJV Believe: Believe that Jesus is who He says He is, the only begotten Son of God, and He has power and ability to save you to the uttermost. "In this the love of God was manifested (rendered apparent) toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him." I John 4:9 NKJV "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 NKJV | We believe this about salvation cont.: Repent: Recognize within yourself that you are a sinner, outside God's Will, and have Godly sorrow that leads to a change of your life, your habits, your character. "Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38 NKJV Confess: That Jesus is the Christ, only begotten Son of the living God, who was raised from the dead. "Then Phillip said, "If you believe with all your heart you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." Acts 8:37 NKJV Be baptized: Act on what you believe! "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith (belief) without works (baptism) is dead also." James 2:26 Find in immersion these: Remission of sins- Acts 2:38 To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. -Acts 2:38 Wash away sins- Acts 22:16 To be saved- Mark 16:15-16 To be born of water- John 3:5 | ||
